To start whatever levek wilderness you are in, depends on what level you can attack. Say you are in level 10 wildy. You are a level 40 player, you can attack opponents from level 30-50. Whatever wildy level you are in add or subtract to know who you can attack from your combat level. When you attack someone you become "skulled" it lasts 20 minutes and resets whenever you attack somone. You do not get a skull from being attacked. If you die with a skull you lose all items you have on you. Unless you use the protect item prayer and that keeps your best item.  People often use range pray and combat skill to pk with. Food is necessary. Depends on what the current wildy state is depends on the food or pots they bring.  Learn your multiplication tables. Dont over eat. Learn what youre good at(range, mage, att) learn to use them in combination. Makes friends and team up
