I've been hearing some complaints about the activity in the wilderness, though I've never done any PKing on this server yet.
To increase activity in the wild, it would make sense to increase the incentive to participate - so what does everyone think of creating a point system?

Here's how it would work:
Every time you kill another player in the wild, you gain Kill Points. The KP you earn is based on the combat level of the player you kill.
For example, you kill a Level 60 character, you get 60 KP.

At Edgeville, we can place an NPC there where players can turn in their KP for various rewards unique to the KP Store. Some of the rewards can be a special colored cape, honorary titles or ranks that can be displayed as an icon next to someone's name (much like how Iron Man characters have their icons) and so on.

PKers like to show off their skills and kills, this KP system would allow players to get these unique items to show others how lethal they are. In addition, it gives players something else to earn besides money and level 99 skills smile

Global Messages when someone is killed will also make PKing a more glorified venture for the competitive types.

I would love to see PK Points that you could exchange for PK items such as food/pots/amus/weapons/armors etc. Maybe with ALOT of points some good stuff as rares and so on..

Only problem i see with this is you can easily abuse it with killing your alt account or a friend to farm free PK points... But overall i would love seeing this!

And also a PK message in right corner with a sword or a skull that someone died,  XX (Sword)/(Skull) XX as a notification.

This.  AFk killing, pking your own accounts in wildy, friends pking each other for points, etc.  Plus, definitely not a fan of rares or highly sought after items as rewards.

-1 to Tru's idea. Easily farm KP to get potions food etc? Ruin the economy for fishers herb collectors herbalist etc no ty

Yasuo and snosavens concern are valid, but if they were to move forward with something like this obviously they would look into the points only counting from unique ip's and not other characters on your known emails etc. If that is too difficult to do then it wouldn't be worth going forward with the idea.

I didn't want to see the KP system being used for pots/food/etc. because I didn't want to see it hurt the economy, like Runeknight mentioned.

The only deterrent I can come up with for the abuse is to not allow someone to earn KP on alts is to have a timer set so you can only earn KP from one specific player every X minutes. I like Runeknight's idea for an IP address based deterrent.

Another deterrent could also be to have some Mods take a proactive approach and let the game log every player-kill. I don't know the limitations of Java, but if the server could store a screenshot of every kill, it may make it easy for Mods to detect someone abusing it, or at the very least keep a rolling text log and watch for patterns. I know Mods are busy enough as is though.

Honestly, even if players are abusing it by letting their friends or alts take turns killing each other, they are still in the wild and open to be preyed on - gives something else for the predator types to look for big_smile

have seen this on another server years ago where it did a #i# of the actual item used to kill. much like call of duty big_smile +1
