Full disclosure:The main delay has been finishing the many sprite sets for all the different new monsters and items. But especially the monsters. When we first announced slayer, we had intended to reuse existing NPC sprite sets and only introduce a couple new sprite sets. This was revised and replaced with a pantheon of new RSC monsters which could not possibly reuse existing sprite sets. RSC has a particular look and feel which is very easy to get wrong if the art isn't styled identically. We only have one person, nisti, working on the remaining sprites with me currently. The sprite sets for walk animations and fight animations need much more love than the slayer system code which is basically done. So much so that by our estimations we could develop a quality Runecrafting skill (since the demands are more on inventory sprites and landscape additions, and not npc animations) before releasing slayer, even. Kleio and I have been managing many of the day to day operations of the server, so customer support and stability/bugfixes tend to take most of our attention. Hence, the delay with slayer release.

tl;dr It's trucking along but the art is taking a while. If you are a sprite art wizard and want to get involved and see what we've already got done, shoot us a DM on Discord.

New skill could mean more items to move forward on the endgame content we could be seeing in the future?

This could stimulate new builds and even freshen up certain skills along the way.

I know Hunting and Construction would be mighty snazzy in Classic as well, maybe later? c;

I am certain that I am not alone in saying this...

I want this server to be the very best that it can possibly be.

Development and implementation of something as large and impactful as a new skill, new NPCs, new monsters and new items is something that takes time.

The very worst thing that the development team could do is provide these implementations in a rushed and forced manner.

I know there are a lot of us that have been with this server for a long, long time. I am not actually one of them but I can imagine that the desire for something new can grow to be a very overwhelming sensation.

What I hope above all else and what I, thankfully, believe is that Billy, N0m, Kleio and the rest of the development team have enough respect for their player base and their project to take whatever time is required in order to deliver a product that they are proud of and that they know the player base will appreciate and draw huge enjoyment from.

I have already said this to a few of them individually throughout my travels but I feel it needs to be said in a public forum.

Take your time...

Take the time that you need to ensure that all the effort you have put in will be worth that effort.

I am happy to wait because, through meeting a lot of you, I know that you want RSCR to be the very best it can be..!

Thank you from a huge fan for everything you have done for this community thus far and for everything that you will continue to do for all of us far in to the future!

1st to max out on rscrevolution and 3rd.
Only player with 3 maxed accounts active on rscrevolution. 1 over a billion xp 1 over 600m and 1 over 300m.
