Appeal by Neox

Ban appeal > Appeal > 1 Mar 2021 03:33

Appeal for neox. It has been almost 2 years since the ban. I was banned for rmt. I was selling some gold when I quit. In the end the transaction was never finalized. I was wondering if I could get unbanned. I'm fine with a bank wipe. I won't do it again and I apologise.

I like the idea but the bank interface is getting a bit crowded with all the quick gears already.

I hear you. Maybe stick it up top, something like this:

and with a right click on the 15 you could have a drop down that lets you set it from 1 (default) or X (custom amount).

That is an awesome place. If it was a toggle option to show the text then +1.

Dragon Scim and Mace useless by Neox

Suggestions > Dragon Scim and Mace useless > Re: 5 May 2019 05:49

The new weapons should be more than fashionscape and have better uses  Otherwise they just become alch fodder (i.e. slayer staff). Perhaps some new bosses where the new weapons could see use. Or niche pve effects on monsters. Just adding stats might not be enough.

I think there few magic players, cause nobody can auto spell, except on Slayer Monsters. If there is some chance of think about change it, i liked that it be consider. The runes more used are Fire and Air... Need  more mages to use more runes, and later all can think in "How make your own Runes"

Well there are a lot of mage users as to pk you need to use magic to ensure maximum damage. Air, Fire, and Death runes specifically can be very expensive over time.

As long as the skill isn't slow as crap as it is in real estate and doesn't devalue runes too much. But really, rc was one of the most boring skills in rs2 as it was just a bunch of walking. I like the idea of cheaper casting runes but the skill was just a pain.

I went into the forums and looked into the pk section. People calling each other pussies and bitch boys. I see not much has changed even after 10 years.

100 day inactivity rule is destroying game by Neox

Suggestions > 100 day inactivity rule is destroying game > Re: 15 Apr 2019 06:59

A possible better solution to this is to lock accounts who are inactive. From there, using the listserv, one email should be sent per forum account (might be a nightmare for people with many forum accounts) that will explain the situation and also explain that your account is locked until you click a verification link and change your password. If the user ignores or does not get this email for whatever reason but decides to play in the future, the client can say that "This account is locked for security reasons. Please check your email for a verification email." This is probably a better message than the current ban message that locked accounts get. This is a solution that does not require moderator intervention and would not be difficult to impliment. For people without verified emails, they should probably continue using the jail system.

To answer your second point though, inactive accounts are definitely at risk to be hacked. You do not know who has party hats or other rare/discontinued items. In addition, inactive accounts will not complain that they were hacked unless that player comes back in the future.

But yes the current jail system is pretty annoying. I understand it is necessary but it feels like it is a rushed solution that should be revisited and improved. I am sure that many mods are tired of dealing with jailed people all day too.

Hmm... Oprah talking about people insulting mods/admins? :thinking:

But seriously.... Who is using these successfully? As far as I know, there was nobody who is benefiting from these. Sure people may use them but they suck in general at pking , so using an emulator wont make them any better I assure you. But now after this post im sure there will be a rise in people attemping to use this. GG!

Remove 1IP and that will remove the need to even worry about people abusing the multy in fort.

Funny thing you say about people abusing multi at fort.. ''remove 1ip from fort'' little people I swear.

Why you're still dodging about banning android users for multi'ing at fort? That's pretty much been your point here, Theres definetely way more of them than these emulator users, and btw, i tried this emulator shit and locking inventory on PC and anyone who thinks this shit gives you ANY advantage whilst pking is delusional and has never pked, shits bad as hell, might help u to dodge 1ip at fort but then again you can set up a virtual machine on ur pc and run it through that or just use android like most do or use a proxy through client or whatever so the emulator shit is def not a problem.. I wouldn't say any of the things mentioned are, there are very little users who actually abuse the 1IP rule and you can pretty much tell when someone is multi'ing you at fort or not, you need to accept that when you have 1IP set in a server there will ALWAYS be ways to get around it, just like there will ALWAYS be bots and you can't get rid of them, even rscrevolution can't do it, there's always new ways around for this. One thing you can be happy about Rev is doing better job with this 1IP shit than any server previously.

You said in your first post that android locking inventory gives you a clear advantage. Now you say it doesn't? Well which one is it? The advantage is not in locking inventory but in quick casting. Android users pretty much require this due to the difficulty of clicking spells on a small screen. PC users do not have this problem. By allowing PC users to emulate, they turn a 3 step action into a 2 step action.

I don't know anyone doing this, but why would you consider this is bannable or something? Android users have a huge advantage when it comes to staking over PC players, it's basically stake botting what they do, can switch modes and items at the same time, same whilst they're DM'ing, they can lock the cast screen or w.e and inventory screen and can pretty much eat and cast without missing which is a huge advantage, if someone were able to do it on PC it'd only be fair in my opinion.

Allowing this on PC would make multiers nearly unstoppable. I do agree that android users have a casting advantage. However, that casting advantage is to make up for the disadvantages of playing on Android (harder right clicking, smaller screen makes accurate clicks/taps difficult, very hard to multi effectively).

How would it make any difference to multi if you can only cast one on client? It just makes it 2 actions to cast instead of 3, yes there's less distance for the mouse to move to cast but that doesn't make multilogging easy, multi is actually quite difficult

That's exactly my point. Having one less action required on one client will allow you to use the time saved to manage your other characters a lot better. A lot can be done in the split second saved from not having to click your spell book. Multiply all those split seconds by the number of casts done in a single fight and you will have a lot of time saved that would be used to manage your other clients. It doesn't make multi easy but it makes multi easier.

I agree. I do not doubt that this is happening as the unfair advantage from casting easier might be too good to pass up for PC users.

Anyways it is possible to fingerprint users by using Android's API. The following methods under the BUILD class can be used to identify a users phone type, manufacturer, Android version, etc. ( https://developer.android.com/reference … d/os/Build )

I am sure the information returned by these methods can be spoofed by the simulation software used. However, this is probably a step in the right direction.

Here is a very hacky/hardcoded solution found on stack overflow to detect Google emulator users:

public static boolean isEmulator() {
    return Build.FINGERPRINT.startsWith("generic")
            || Build.FINGERPRINT.startsWith("unknown")
            || Build.MODEL.contains("google_sdk")
            || Build.MODEL.contains("Emulator")
            || Build.MODEL.contains("Android SDK built for x86")
            || Build.MANUFACTURER.contains("Genymotion")
            || (Build.BRAND.startsWith("generic") && Build.DEVICE.startsWith("generic"))
            || "google_sdk".equals(Build.PRODUCT);
}

Using this function might not be the right way to go. Instead the proper solution is probably to store what the methods return into the snapshot database of each user. Later on, if cheating is suspected, mods can investigate these snapshots.

I had the same issue but with real rscrevolution many years back. My solution was to use open jdk runtime. Try installing that and running the client.jar through the newly installed runtime.
