Can you re-upload the source code?

Done smile

Unfortunately I am quitting development of the project. If you or anyone else wants to revamp it and re-release it, go for it smile

This will be my last post in this thread. Thanks for the support those of you who used RSCRTools over the years. Sorry to let you down, but the project is just too much work for me to maintain.

Take it easy, and PM me if you bought the paid version and want a refund.

Peace.

End of RSCRTools / Leaving Post by Honour

General Discussion > End of RSCRTools / Leaving Post > 16 Oct 2018 02:31

Hey guys. After working on the app RSCRTools for over 2 years, I have decided to bring it to an end.

Google are making it increasingly difficult for me to keep the app on the playstore due to their policies changing and their automated responses being unhelpful, and I quite frankly don't have the time to spend working on it anymore. After spending hundreds of hours developing this app, I have decided to pull the plug. It just isn't worth the trouble or time anymore unfortunately.

I don't have the time to play RSC either, which means I cannot fix any bugs or errors in the calculator or add new items etc. Which means I rely on the players to help me fix and improve the app, but I have not received any help from players for over a year - and yet I repeatedly receive complaints about certain things in the app being out-dated or incorrect (or that it contains ads). Since I make between $0-3 per month on average from the app and it is a huge time sink to maintain, I've decided to discontinue development, officially quit the game and focus my spare time on other things. I never did it for money obviously, but it is hard unrewarding work and I am a busy dude these days.

I will release the source code for both the desktop and Android apps and maybe someone else here will take up the project (get it here). If anyone bought the paid version of the Android app and wants a refund, PM me with a screenshot of your playstore receipt and your paypal email or crypto address and I'll sort it out.

Thanks for the support over the years from those of you who did use and like the app and the desktop program. Thanks to the RSCR team for promoting it for me and making me feel like I was a part of the community. I got to hang on to the nostalgia of RSC for many years thanks to you guys and the players here, and I really appreciate that. The staff are fantastic and I wish I had more time to actually play the game actively. I hope you guys can keep RSC alive for as long as possible, it really is a magical game despite its age, and you guys have done a killer job of modernizing it. I had some damn good times over my five years playing here!

See you all in Lumbridge in the next life!

Peace smile

Regards,
Matt / Honour.

PS. I gave all of my gp and rares to the new player Benby who was training in the man hut at edgeville with rune legs and a black plate, like a true RSC noob. If you read this, and you decide to quit someday, please give my stuff to the mods or other players smile It was damn hard to part with 5 years worth of shit, but it's time to move on and I am glad to pass the flame to a genuine new player instead of giving most of it to veterans at a drop party or event. Have fun Benby and everyone else here, good luck with your pixel journey, and long live RSC!

Flying Imp by Honour

Suggestions > Flying Imp > 28 Aug 2018 12:11

Idea: a flying imp is added to the game that is set to roam all over F2P. It always drops an interesting (but not rare) item like a clue scroll or a rune item or some random cool thing that makes it worth tracking down when you're bored. Maybe add one to P2P land and one to F2P land (or the wilderness), it spawns at a random unpredictable location and wanders randomly across the whole world making it somewhat hard to find and exciting if you happen to run into it. It is easy to kill but hard to catch, but always worth murdering if you happen across it.

I personally would love to hunt down a little fucker like that from time to time but maybe I'm just sadistic and really bored. Is this even close to a good or bad idea or am I smoking too much weed?

Sweet! Love the cosmetic redesigns, I never understood why rscrevolution didn't do that for RSC themselves the lazy bastards. Great work team big_smile

RSCR Tools has been fixed as of 23/4/2018. Please PM me if it breaks again or if you have any suggestions/bug reports smile

Edit: new features have been added to the Android app - you can now view the website forums, highscores and quest guides from within the app. Currently it logs you out of the forums whenever you close the app, but I will try to fix this and continue to improve this feature as I learn more about it big_smile

Hey rscr crew, just dropping in to let everyone know that I fixed the RSCR Tools exp calculator app for both desktop and Android today.

The old version of the desktop app won't tell you that there's a new update out because it is reading from a broken rscr website URL (which is the only reason I'm making this post).

You can download the fixed versions here: https://www.rscrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?id=8441

Have fun & Long live RSC(R)!

Peace smile

I have one thought on the color of the free one it seems a little bland idk if its any different in the paid or not but it could you some color smile I will try to think of more ideas.

Unfortunately it turned out much harder to create coloured themes for the app than I thought it would, so I had to leave that as a paid feature. The premium app has a darker theme, I plan to add more themes eventually when I get around to learning more about them. I'm more of a programmer than a graphics artist so UI design isn't my strong point haha sad but I'm working on it!

I just went through the free version and I love it! Very nice job smile I just left a 5 star review on google play smile I need to find some money for the paid to test it out for you.

That's awesome to hear man! Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. All I need to know is that at least one person finds it useful and I feel like it was a worthwhile endeavor big_smile So thanks man, I've got a few updates coming out this week. If you can think of anything to suggest to add, let me know! I'm running out of ideas to be honest.

I recently added rewarded video ads to the free version, now when you watch one it disables all ads for 12 hours. So don't feel pressured to pay for the full version any time soon - if you want to support the development and remove ads from the app at the same time that's one way to do it smile

Personally I'd prefer to have no ads cuz I hate them, but this app is such a beast of a project for me that I need to do something to create some kind of incentive for working on it. Hardly anyone has actually bought the paid app (which is cool and I don't care), but I've only made $5 in total from ad revenue in over 18 months and I've logged literally hundreds of hours in Android Studio working on it the past year haha. First world problems >.>

Obviously I didn't do it for the money, I did it for the community and love of the game and out of my own curiosity about Android development. Initially the whole thing was free, but as it became bigger and harder to maintain I had to think of a way to get something out of it for my time and this was the best I could come up with sad I just hope these video ads bring in at least enough money to buy me a case of beer sometime next year for all the late nights lol. And I hope it doesn't annoy too many users - if it does let me know and I'll remove it.

Anyway thanks for looking into the paid version man! It means a lot, every small app sale helps encourage me to keep the momentum going on the project and makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time building something no one cares about.

Glad to see you still around to implement updates wink

Thanks Kleio! I'm glad to be back man. I probably won't play nearly as much as I used to now that I've got full-time work and major projects to keep me busy, but I thought I should at least drop in to participate in the Christmas events and get this app up to scratch with the latest game updates.

I'm super impressed with how things have been progressing here, you guys are unstoppable! Keep it up brother big_smile this server and community is fantastic, I can never stay away for too long!

Could you add so that either it restored last sessions username or make it so that it saves "profiles" please?

Done smile desktop/mac version 2.3 now saves all important settings between use.

The source code of both the desktop and Android versions are uploaded too if anyone is interested - Download RSCR Tools Source Code.

Thanks man I appreciate that! I'll be rolling out an update sometime this week to all versions just to make sure everything is up to scratch. Gotta fix the world map link and add some quest guides etc.

If anyone has any specific requests now is the time to mention them big_smile

Hey sorry man, I've been away from the community for a while now as I've been super busy with other stuff. I've been meaning to get around to updating this app and adding a few new features, I'll look into that for you soon smile
