Hello fellow elite 1.8 cast rate PKers who also bring raw fish to wars. I'm here to announce a special contest meant to increase PK activity and destroy what's left of my self confidence.

What's the game? 1v1s.
When is it? Shooting for April 1st, 2023 though that date might be pushed back or up by a few days depending on my schedule.
When will it end? June 31st, 2023
What's the goal? To end with the best total score.
And the prizes? More than my broke ass can afford right now which is why I'm announcing this so early. But here is a quick rundown:

1st Place: 100 PK loadouts. That's 100 sets, 100 R2Hs, 100 diamond amulets, 100 strength potions, 5,250 swordfish, 20,000 death runes, 80,000 air runes, and 100,000 fire runes. You will also receive an OG party hat, the color of which is still TBD as I don't know who will sell what at this point.

2nd Place: 50 loadouts (half of the above,) a random new dragon item, and a random new amulet.

3rd Place: 25 loadouts (half of the above,) and a green Halloween mask.

Everything is ready to go except for the phat.

ENTRY
Message me here, in-game, or on discord with your account name and total kills/deaths to be entered into the selection process. NO ALTS, NO SECRET ACCOUNTS, NO FRESHLY MADE ACCOUNTS. Only the main account you use for PK and/or general gameplay. If at any time between now and the end of the contest I find out you're using one of those prohibited accounts, you will be disqualified. You have been warned.

The chance to enter this contest ends on March 15th, 2023.

SELECTION
Selection will be weighted toward new players and new PKers. Why? Because I suck, that's why. Also, this whole thing is meant to get people started in PK and bring some fresh blood to the wilderness. I think we can all agree that that is a good thing. Don't worry though, you seasoned PKers will still have a fair chance of being selected.

Selection will be done by a draw-from-a-hat lottery system. The lower your amount of kills and deaths are, the higher your chances of being selected. So, in theory, a phenom with a 90-10 k/d has the exact same chance as a casual player with a 30-70 k/d, but that casual player has a higher chance of being selected than a vet with years of kills and deaths under their belt.

Here's how the ticket system is broken down:

2,000+ kills and deaths = 1 ticket
1,500+ kills and deaths = 2 tickets
1,000+ kills and deaths = 3 tickets
500+ kills and deaths = 4 tickets
250+ kills and deaths = 5 tickets
50+ kills and deaths = 6 tickets.

I'm selecting 10 people at random to participate in this event. Much more than that and I wouldn't have time for anything else but Rev.

THE FIGHTS
All 1v1s will be done at the Edgeville or Varrock border areas whenever both parties are available and want to engage in fights. Every fight is for fun, I won't be keeping your gear if I win and you don't need to return my gear to me if I lose.

THE SCORING FORMULA
Win percentage + total number of fights x .01

For example, if you only finish 10 1v1s and go 10-0, your win percentage is 1.000. 10 fights x .01 is .01, which gives you a total score of 1.010.

If you finish 135 1v1s and go 57-78, your win percentage is 0.422. 135 fights x .01 is 1.35, which gives you a total score of 1.772.

Or, you could absolutely destroy me throughout the entire contest, racking up a record of 100-20 and still beat the person who fought me with an iron mace 200 times and went 1-199, beating him or her by a score of 2.033 to 2.005.

So, while quantity is weighted a little more heavily than quality, the best PKers still have the best chance, mathematically, of winning unless they are completely outdone by some lunatic with an iron mace who ensures victory by marching to his death 7,000 times.

Also, as a side note, please don't do that. Use an R2H not an iron mace. Quantity can be a bad thing and I will stop fighting you if you are insistent upon coming at me with full bronze and wind strikes every 2 minutes.

OVERVIEW OF THE RULES
Again, no secret accounts, secret alts, or fresh accounts. You must use a flats you already have at your disposal or, if you are a new player and don't yet have a flats, you are allowed to enter your main account as long as it is flats by the time the contest begins. (99 attack, 99 defenese, 99 strength, 99 hits, at least 69 magic, and ideally 80+ prayer)

No score farming, as I stated above. I'm not handing you free deaths nor am I letting you farm me for kills by also gearing up in full bronze. Fair fights all around.

I'll be posting the updated standings in the discord PK channel every few days once things get underway. So, get ready, hone your skills, get some sets, and I'll be seeing you, and Lumby, soon.

Hello fellow human people!

If you're active on Discord you're probably well aware of how vocal I am about bringing in new players. So, today I am offering all of you the chance to engage in some marketing magic with the chance to win great 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. There are obviously rules and guidelines you must follow but you do have some pretty good creative freedom with this contest. You can post advertisements across the vast, weird land known as the internet. You can print flyers and post them on bulletin boards across the vast, also weird real world. You can make a pk or stake video and put it on your YouTube channel or stream yourself spinning some sweet, sweet flax (looking at you, Crispy,) on your platform of choice.

This contest will begin on October 1, 2019 and end on October 14, 2019 (midnight Eastern Time for both.) Hopefully this advanced notice will you give you enough time to formulate a plan to be the best marketer.

Rules and Guidelines

Failure to abide by any of the following rules and guidelines will result in disqualification.

By advertising and promoting this game, you are acting as an ambassador to it. This means you always need to ensure you're playing by the rules, maintaining a respectful and professional attitude, etc.

1. Follow other forum/website rules.
If you come across a forum that does not allow advertising or soliciting, don't post an advertisement. If it is a forum or site you actually have interest in joining, you can always post a link in your signature or profile if that is allowed. In any case, please make sure you are not breaking any rules.
1a. Don't double post!
If you happen upon a forum or website that already has an RSCR advertisement in at least somewhat plain view (first couple pages of a forum section, etc.), don't post another one.

2. Follow local ordinances/laws and get permission to post things.
If you're going to be posting flyers or anything of the sort, please make sure you are not in violation of any laws or local ordinances and that you have permission to pin something on a bulletin board or telephone pole or anything like that. Local ordinances can be pretty specific and odd so make sure you've read up on yours. If there's a bulletin board at a gas station, make sure you ask the clerk if it is okay for you to put something up.

3. Be aware of copyright laws.
If you're making a video, please make sure you are not using music without permission. The belief that you can use up to 30 seconds of a song under "fair use" is actually a myth. You actually need 2 different types of permissions to use even a few seconds of a song. With that said, there are plenty of resources for royalty free music as well as genuine "fair use" resources. A simple Google search will give you hundreds of places to find free music that you can use. I've even used a few songs for past projects and they were great.
If you use a copyrighted song without permission, I can't accept the video as a valid submission.

4. Everything you do must have a physical record.
This is very important as it ensures you have a fair shot at winning the contest or at least placing 2nd or 3rd. If you post on a forum but do not screenshot it for your records, it will not count. If you put bulletins up but don't take a few pictures of them, they won't count. So on and so forth. Please keep a record of your marketing campaign if you want a chance to win! You can send me links through the website's private messaging system or through Discord (I strongly prefer this method of communication) and I will record it all for the judging period. Please include your in-game character name in the first message.

5. Get permission to use any official RSCR logos
Since this contest is not officially sponsored by RSCR, please go ahead and ask permission to use any of official RSCR logos and things like that. Remember, everything we do inside the game or outside of it reflects on us as a community. So, we're going to extend the professionalism to RSCR as well.

6. Future bylaws.
As of today (September 4, 2019) we have 26 days before the contest begins. If any other rules or guidelines are needed before then, they will appear here.

Judging

I will go over each participant's efforts and results to determine a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. I will be judging on quality of advertisements, streams, and/or videos, how well a participant adheres to the aforementioned rules, how effective the campaigns are from a marketing standpoint, how creative each effort is, and what kind of attention it brings (if possible. I will be following up on the online contributions but obviously there is no way for me to follow up on physical adverts.)

Prizes

For winning 1st place in Sno's Advertising Contest, the Grand Prize shall be a Red Party Hat!

For winning 2nd place in Sno's Advertising Contest, the prize shall be 10 million GP!

For winning 3rd place, in Sno's Advertising Contest, the prize shall be 3 million GP and 5K of each type of rune! Except Soul Runes because the budgetary committee has told me we can't afford those without selling some of my land around Varrock and guys, I am not giving up a location like that.

The winners will be announced shortly after the contest ends on a day to be determined later. They will be announced through a forum post and on Discord.

So there you have it. Let's have some fun with this one, get some new players aboard, and set your sights on a red party hat. Or, you know, a bunch of runes if that's your thing.
